Another Wine Tasting - May 16

Today we headed south for 15 minutes into the Cote de Beaune region to the town of Puligny-Montrachet where we visited the La Maison d'Olivier LeFlaive.  There we were escorted through the vineyards for an hour  being informed on the unique terroir of Bourgogne which makes their wines what they are. Next an hour lecture on the production process. There M. Leflaive explained that he and many Burgundy wine makers produce wine to their taste.  If you like their taste fine and if not fine also.  Sounded like a bit more art and a bit less science in the process. This was followed by a 2 1/2 hour five course lunch with 7 paired wines. We have truly learned the value of the spit bucket allowing us  to maintain some degree of sobriety throughout.  Just another superb day on the job.
