First Champagne Tasting in Reims
With Reims being the Champagne capitol, we had to very quickly move on to a tasting and tour. On the recommendation of Nicklos at the front desk of our hotel, the Hôtel Porte Mars, we headed to House of Pommery. The blending barrel, presented at the 1904 St. Louis exhibition contains capacity for 100,000 bottles of wine. We observed a few old vintages locked in the cellar. At the end we experienced the traditional tasting of 4 varieties. Now we know just enough about champagne to get us in more trouble.
